Participants will:

  • Recognize the impact of lymphedema on breast cancer patients and the importance of education and risk reduction
  • Differentiate between non-modifiable and modifiable risk factors and recognize difficulties in predicting who may develop lymphedema
  • Learn challenges incumbent in researching lymphedema and risk reduction
  • Name three controversial risk reduction behaviors and the physiology used to justify it
  • Become familiar with findings of the most relevant articles supporting and refuting controversial precautions
  • Identify limitations of existing studies and inadequacies to address in future research
  • Understand recommendations for educating patients on lymphedema risk reduction
